100 Game Maker Games in 10 Minutes
Maker is a popular game making tool for Windows (Mac version is currently only for betas) made by Mark Marsbars, currently owned by Yoyogames.
The latest version(?) is 8.0 which was released in December 2009. Its ease of use is primarily for its drag & drop system and simple coding language, Game Maker Language. YoYo Games website lists many games made in it.
Many high-profile games and developers also use or used Game Maker, such as cactus, Derek Yu, VVVVVV, Fez, Minecraft Ultimortal, Clysm, ChevyRay, YMM, hpapillon, phubans, Jph Wacheski, Chef Boyardee and Nello Gello.
History[]
- Game Maker 6 (GM6) is not compatible with Vista or Windows 7, so games made in it will not work without a special conversion process: the converter
- Since the first version was released, Game Maker has always only been compatible with the Windows operating system. However, a release candidate for the Mac version is currently available and a PSP compatible runner is in development.
- Game Maker was bought by YoYo Games in 2007, though Mark Overmars, the original creator, is still involved in its development.
