Blocksum is an arcade, math-based puzzle game released for free on December 31st, 2006. It is a Japanese game, but as the game itself is in both Japanese and English, it can be played by English speakers.

GameplayEdit

Blocksum is an arcade game, so it naturally involves scoring as high as possible. In order to score in Blocksum, you must create a chain of blocks with the same number. The minimum number of blocks necessary to create the chain is the number on the block itself, and higher blocks give more points. For example, In order to create a chain using 2-blocks, you must match at least two 2-blocks. Once the chain minimum has been achieved, the game will freeze for a moment and allow you to continue adding to the chain.

Blocks are chained by merging together. You merge a block by connecting it to its neighbors, and once merged, the number on the blocks will be added together. For example, if you have a 5-block and a 3-block and you merge them, you will get an 8-block that is two squares wide.

The scoring system takes into account block numbers and the number of blocks in a chain, which means that high-number, high-chain combos are necessary for the best possible score.
